How and why we started this... First of all, my family has been so lucky in life! My husband Dan & I have 2 wonderful, HEALTHY, active kids who had every opportunity to grow, succeed and have a happy life! We have been trying to come up with something we could do for others ~ SOMETHING BIG! ~ for quite a while! We have, in our small ways over the years, participated in charity events - serving at dinners & pancake breakfasts, raising & donating money, doing triathalons & bike races, etc. - but we wanted to do more!
One day, I was handsewing some snowmen ornaments while I was watching tv. I had a big pile of them next to me on the floor! (Snowmen are kind my "thing" ~ what I'm most known for in the design world.) Lindsey walks in and asks me, "What are you trying to do? Make a MILLION of them?" It hit me - just then - my BIG idea - I could make a million snowmen and donate HALF the proceeds to our favorite charities! Could I do it? How long would it take me to make a MILLION snowmen? It could take me the rest of my LIFE!..... But I could TRY! .........Right??
So, with the help of my family & friends, I'm giving it my best shot! There will be all different kinds of snowmen offered for sale, at one time or another - sewn ones, painted ones, clay ones, prints, notecards, gift tags, dolls and anything else I can think of! Half the proceeds of every single sale will go to charity! The two charities we have chosen are: St. Jude Children's Hospital and The American Cancer Society! To make the sales easier - all shipping on the items will be FREE in North America (U.S. & Canada)... and we will try to keep the costs down by using recycled and donated materials, so everyone will be able to afford to participate!
We have ALL been devastated by the news that a loved one has cancer - breast cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, etc.! This awful, disgusting disease needs a cure - NOW! I'm SICK of it! Especially heartwrenching, are the innocent children - who have yet to live a life of fun & normalcy - but are the bravest, most positive-thinking little hearts I've ever seen!
Please help us reach this enormous goal of selling a MILLION SNOWMEN - so we can be "some" help to those amazing scientists & doctors that are in the race to find a cure AND to be of assistance to those battling this nasty life-stealer!
Thanks so much! Be healthy and kiss your loved ones often!
